Tottenham launch £60m swoop for Morgan Gibbs-White – with Thomas Frank’s side hopeful of striking deal with Nottingham Forest just 24 hours after agreeing Mohammed Kudus move

Tottenham are hopeful of reaching an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Morgan Gibbs-White in a deal worth at least £60million.

The 25-year-old England international has long been on Spurs’ radar and they have stepped up discussions in recent weeks. Earlier in the window, Manchester City decided against pursuing Gibbs-White despite following him closely last season.

Mail Sport reported earlier this week that Gibbs-White was attracting further interest and Forest had a decision to make as the player has two years left on contract and would otherwise be up for renegotiation.

The pursuit of Gibbs-White comes just one day after Spurs agreed a £54.5m deal to sign West Ham‘s Mohammed Kudus, who is set to be the first transfer between the two London clubs since Scott Parker in 2011.

Spurs, who will pay the fee for Kudus over three years, want another attacking player to bolster their upcoming Champions League campaign.

Tottenham endured a disastrous season in the Premier League last term, finishing 17th in the division despite winning the Europa League under now sacked boss Ange Postecoglou.

Despite suffering their lowest ever points tally and league position in 2024-25, Tottenham qualified for the Champions League through winning the Europa League – an achievement that could incentivise Gibbs-White after Nottingham Forest narrowly missed out on qualification last campaign.

It is understood new Tottenham manager Frank has long admired Gibbs-White, who joined Forest from Wolves in 2022 for a fee of £42.5m.

Gibbs-White enjoyed a superb season at the City Ground last campaign as he marshalled Forest to a seventh place finish in the Premier League and broke into the England squad as a reward.

Forest had earlier this window priced Gibbs-White out of a move to City and are understood to want around £65m plus bonuses, which would be another record sale after the departure of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle earlier this month.

Spurs have also enquired about Brentford’s Yoane Wissa but are reluctant to bid over £35m.

Forest have sold Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for £52.5million and have earmarked the likes of Lyon’s Malick Fofana, Johan Bakayoko of PSV and Manchester City’s James McAtee as they consider replacements.

Mail Sport also understands Wolves would be due 10 per cent of any profit on Gibbs-White, who they sold to Forest for an initial £25m three years ago.

In an effort to forge a squad capable of competing at the highest level, Spurs have been especially busy over the past few days, having already agreed a deal with West Ham for Kudus worth well below the 24-year-old’s £85m release clause.

West Ham initially rejected a £50m bid for the Ghana international last week before talks advanced and a new offer was accepted.

Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax for £38m two years ago, scored five goals in the Premier League last season.

Spurs have shown interest in Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo in a potential reunion with former Bees boss Frank, though it is believed the player would prefer a move to Manchester United, whom Tottenham defeated in the Europa League final.
