Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 21
Jackson Chourio – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Currently the owner of the longest active hit streak in the majors, it’s safe to say that Chourio is on a roll. He’s hit safely in 14 straight games, but it’s not just that stat that has me excited about his prospects in this game. In those 14 games, he actually has 20 hits to go along with a dozen runs and a dozen RBIs. That means if you combine his hits, runs, and RBIs in that span, he is putting up 2.43 per game. He’ll get a chance to face George Kirby here too, who just got slapped around in his last start.
Eury PErez – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
Don’t look now, but Eury Perez might just be back. After spending more than a year out of MLB thanks to injuries, he retuned this year to uncertainty. However, he’s been excellent for the Marlins at this point. He’s had at least six strikeouts in each of his last three games – averaging 7.0 in those starts. Additionally, he’s hit the mark in four of his last five. San Diego is a tough squad to strikeout, but his stuff looks good enough to change that here.
Shohei Ohtani – Lower than 3.5 Strikeouts
It’s been fun seeing the pitcher Shohei come back to life here, but I think we’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves with his strikeouts here. Yes, he’s increased both his innings and strikeouts over the last three starts. However, that has to hit a bump somewhere. The Twins might be the perfect team to stop that here. Over the past week, they’ve been one of the five hardest teams to strikeout. Additionally, they’ve been swinging the bats a lot better recently. Combine that with not knowing how long Ohtani can even go yet, and I think we see a lower strikeout number.
