Dashcam: Lumber slams into car on busy road after coming loose
A dashcam captured the moment a truck lost a load of lumber, slamming into a car under an overpass. Luckily, no one was injured.
If that famous “Final Destination” logging truck scene already lurks in the back of your mind whenever you’re driving on a highway, you may want to sit this one out.
In a dashcam video captured in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, one driver experienced a thankfully not deadly, but still frightening ordeal when a load of construction materials fell from a lumber truck driving on the overpass above.
Uber driver Derek Gooderham was zipping along on Interstate 83 when a wave of wood planks tumbled from the lumber truck, sliding down a hill and sweeping his car off the road. The scene was caught on dashcam and shows what appears to be a flurry of 2x4s flying towards vehicles before colliding with Gooderham’s.
He told newswire service Storyful that in the split moment before his car was hit, he almost thought the boards looked like trees. “But after seeing it all unfold, it was an avalanche of 2x4s and 2x12s covering the highway,” he told the service.
‘Scariest thing that I have seen’
Gooderham also told local news channel WGAL that though he walked away unscathed, the experience still left him shaken.
“I hate saying things like this, but that was probably the scariest thing that I have seen so far in my life,” Gooderham said. “I hope there’s nothing that tops that. It was pretty scary.”
No reported injuries
No one was injured in the incident and the roadway was reopened after about four hours of cleanup, reported WGAL.
