Michigan football wild upset of Ohio State: How it happened, now what?
“Hail Yes!” podcast hosts react to Michigan’s incredible 13-10 win at No. 2 Ohio State and the aftermath at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Nov. 30, 2024.
(This story was updated with new information).
The biggest week of the initial 12-team College Football Playoff has arrived.
The penultimate set of CFP rankings was released on Tuesday before this weekend’s conference championship games. This was the final ranking reveal ahead of Sunday’s final 12-team bracket. The Big Ten matchup between No. 1 Oregon and No. 3 Penn State for the Big Ten championship could significantly impact the final bracket. Still, it seems the least consequential to get a conference member in.
The undefeated Ducks kept their top spot in the rankings, finishing as the only undefeated FBS team. Despite Ohio State’s shocking upset loss at the hand of rival Michigan in “The Game,” the Buckeyes did not tumble down the rankings as much as projected. At the same time, Penn State and Indiana maintained their spots in the bracket.
Each Big Ten and SEC are sending four representatives to the current 12-team CFP field, though things could change by the end of the week. Here’s how the Big Ten performed in the fourth round of the College Football Playoff ranking released on Tuesday:
