Airlines add special nonstops for Wisconsin’s games at Alabama, Oregon
Wisconsin Hall of Fame inductee Frederick reflects on Badger career
Frederick, who helped the Badgers win three Big Ten titles, is one of 12 former athletes who will be inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in September.
- American, Delta, and United Airlines are offering nonstop flights from Dane County Regional Airport to Birmingham for the Wisconsin vs. Alabama game.
- Nonstop flights are also available for the Wisconsin vs. Oregon game.
- Connecting flights offer a cheaper alternative for both games.
Wisconsin fans will have some nonstop-flight options to see the Badgers on the road during the 2025 football season.
All three major airlines — American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines — have released their special nonstop flights for the 2025 college football season and included Badgers road games in their offerings.
Sept. 13 at Alabama
American, Delta and United each have nonstop flights from the Dane County Regional Airport to Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport — about a 60-mile drive to Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium — ahead of the Badgers’ Sept. 13 nonconference game at Alabama.
American’s nonstop service is currently scheduled to depart Madison at 5:05 p.m. and arrive in Birmingham at 7:05 p.m. on the day before the Wisconsin-Alabama game (although flight times can still fluctuate this far in advance). The return service is scheduled to depart Birmingham at 11:45 a.m. the day after the game and arrive at Madison at 1:42 p.m.
Delta’s nonstop service is currently scheduled to depart Madison at 11:30 a.m. the day before the game and arrive in Birmingham at 1:25 p.m. The return flight is scheduled to also depart Birmingham at 11:45 a.m. on the day after the game and arrive in Madison at 1:43 p.m.
United’s nonstop flight, which the airline announced Thursday morning, were not yet listed on its website or Google Flights, as of midday July 10.
Both American and Delta’s nonstop flights come with a hefty price tag. The American roundtrip airfare is $784 for a main cabin seat, and the Delta roundtrip airfare is $1,119, according to Google Flights information accessed midday July 10.
For those willing to take a connecting flight, airfare starts at $268 from Milwaukee or $418 from Madison for those same days (although prices can change quickly).
Oct. 25 at Oregon
American and United have announced nonstop flights for Wisconsin’s game at Oregon, with flights departing on Oct. 24 and returning on Oct. 26.
United’s nonstop service is not yet listed on its website or Google Flights. American’s nonstop service is scheduled to leave Madison at 3:30 p.m. and arrive in Eugene at 5:20 p.m. the day before the game. It then is scheduled to leave Eugene at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in Madison at 5:20 p.m. the day after the game.
The American nonstop airfare starts at $628, as of midday July 10. Alternatively, someone could take a connecting flight to Portland — about 110 miles north of Eugene — for either $210-plus from Milwaukee or $246-plus from Madison.
Other flight options
Two other Wisconsin football road games are in areas regularly served with nonstop flights. Milwaukee and Madison both have nonstop service to Detroit as the Badgers play at Michigan on Oct. 4. For those not wanting to make the drive north for Wisconsin’s Nov. 29 game at Minnesota, Milwaukee and Madison also both have nonstop service to Minneapolis.
