Alabama football wide receiver intends to enter transfer portal: Reports

Alabama football is likely losing a wide receiver in the transfer portal when it opens next week. Crimson Tide wideout Kobe Prentice is planning to enter the portal, according to multiple reports.

Matt Zenitz of 247Sports was first to report the news. Prentice is currently a junior, in his third season with the Tide.

Prentice has caught 11 passes for Alabama this season. He pulled in one touchdown, in the South Florida game, and finished with 129 receiving yards.

Since arriving at Alabama, he has 60 catches, totalling 780 yards and five touchdowns. He joined the Crimson Tide as a four-star prospect out of Calera.

The 5-foot-10, 188-pound Prentice will need to wait several days to official enter the portal. The 20-day undergraduate entry window begins on Dec. 9.

Prentice isn’t the first Crimson Tide player to begin heading toward the transfer portal this season. Defensive back Jahlil Hurley announced his intentions earlier on Tuesday, while linebacker Keanu Koht and defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis made their plans known before the regular season came to an end Saturday with a win over Auburn.

Meanwhile, Alabama’s 2024 season hasn’t ended yet. The Crimson Tide is still alive for a College Football Playoff spot, and would have been in the 12-team field, as the No. 11-ranked team in the country.

The potential still exists for Alabama to fall out of the playoff depending on how this weekend’s conference championship games shake out. If UA is eliminated from playoff contention, a more substantial portal exodus could begin.
