Hundreds of ITVX viewers reported problems this morning as they tried to watch content on the streaming app.
Some app users attempting to stream videos on the ITVX platform said they were met with an error message reading: ‘Sorry, it looks like there’s an issue with ITVX at our end. Please try again later’.
Viewers were left angered by ITV‘s lack of updates on the issue, with no information provided by the ITVX customer service social media channels as of 9am.
Downdetector, the outage monitoring service, showed that issues for hundreds of viewers began shortly after 3am today, reaching a peak after 7am.
An ITV spokesperson told the MailOnline: ‘We’re sorry for any issues ITVX viewers experienced this morning. We moved quickly to identify the problem and it is now fixed’.
Reacting to the access outage this morning, one social media described her ‘deep frustration’ over the lack of communication from ITV.
Another user admonished the streaming service for scuppering their day off from work: ‘I planned to watch Christmas films as I do more decorating and it won’t let me play anything’.
‘Is there a message about it which might help the poor, long-suffering viewer? Of course not!’, one user stated, whilst another stated: ‘Not impressed after just becoming a premium customer’.

Premium customers, who pay £59.99 annually, or £5.99 monthly, felt particularly aggrieved by the situation
ITVX replaced the ITV hub two years ago in December 2022 and offers users both free and premium subscription models.
Premium customers stump up £59.99 annually, or £5.99 monthly, in order to avoid third-party adverts on the app.
However, there have been previous reports of some premium users still being subjected to adverts.
A disclaimer on the website says: ‘Ad-free applies to our on-demand library only and programmes may contain ITV promotions where contractually required. Live TV plays with ads’.
Another page states: ‘With ITVX Premium, you can watch most shows and movies on demand without the adverts, and download them to watch offline’.
