Donald Trump gets Fox Nation Patriot of the Year award

Fox Nation named President-elect Donald Trump the Patriot of the Year as a part of the 2024 Fox Nation Patriot Awards event in Long Island, New York on Thursday night.

The awards, created by the network in 2019, “honor and recognize America’s finest patriots, including military veterans, first responders and other inspirational everyday heroes,” according to Fox.

Trump, 78, continued his post-election victory lap at the event, touting his electoral and popular vote wins. He also noted his close relations with some in the organization, saying: “You have incredible people at Fox.”

The appearance comes as Trump assembles his incoming administration, including announcements of David Sacks as “AI and crypto czar” and former U.S. Senator David Perdue as ambassador to China on Thursday.

The event was originally slated to be hosted by scandal-embroiled Defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth but was switched to Sean Hannity after Hegseth left the network to accept the nomination.

Other awards to be handed out Thursday include the Culture Warrior Award and the T2T Stephen Siller Back the Blue Award.

There was no Patriot of the Year category in 2023. Last year’s winners included Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, the founders of far-right education advocacy group Moms for Liberty, and bestselling crime novelist James Patterson.

Trump announced in a Truth Social post Monday that he would be attending the reopening of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris on Saturday.
