The PIAA state high school football championships run Thursday to Saturday, and two of the six champions have already been crowned.
Friday, it’s time for the Class 2A and 5A championships.
In 5A, Bishop McDevitt (13-2) aims to claim its first state title since moving up to Class 5A. It’s made a state title game three times in the last four years, and its last title occurred during the Class 4A championship in 2022.
Roman Catholic (11-4) has dropped 40 points or more on each of its opponents in the state tournament thus far. Its four losses this season came against powerhouse programs from both within the state and without. Its run defense allows just 88 yards per game.
