ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – West Egg Cafe, a widely-loved brunch restaurant in West Midtown, is set to close this month after 20 years in business.
West Egg Cafe’s last day is Dec. 29, an employee told Atlanta News First. They did not give a reason for the closure.
Jennifer and Ben Johnson, a husband-wife team who both formerly practiced law in Atlanta, opened West Egg Cafe in 2004. The restaurant serves breakfast all day, including state and local-inspired dishes like the Georgia benedict and Westside pileup. It also serves brunch, which is a separate menu with a few new items like chicken chilaquiles and crab cake benedict.
In 2018, Thrillest dubbed West Egg Cafe one of the best breakfast spots in America.
“Atlanta’s chock full of places where biscuits that are approximately 95% butter (and 5% love, if the menus are to be believed) are the stars, and true to form this modern-ish throwback experience brings the thunder courtesy of a build-your-own biscuit menu that keeps things simple, cheap, and delightful,” the publication wrote.
